Playa de Americas

We had a slow paced start to the day and finally set out at 11:00 am for a walk northwestward along the promenade. The weather forecast was a little unsettled for the day but we figured we could duck into a shop or restaurant if it started to rain.

There were a lot of folks out walking and lots of "tourist" shops and restaurants to walk by. Everything from designer clothing and jewelry to the low end souvenirs.

There were a number of protected black sand beaches along the way although the weather was such that not many people were sunbathing.

We walked about 5 km to a harbour where all of the various tour boats depart.

That was the time that it started to rain and we had to take shelter in a carport for about 30 minutes.

It started to clear and we were on our way back home looking for a lunch stop. We finally stopped for lunch near our apartment and had a leisurely sandwich and drink.

After that a brief siesta and then sat on the balcony waiting for sunset. We walked back to the waterfront to watch a potential sunset and the surfers. Not the best sunset but I got a couple of good pics of the surfers catching their final waves of the day.

We had picked up some food to cook at home and had a late supper. (Sunset is at 7:30pm)

I managed to hook up our Chromecast device to the TV and Wi-Fi and we can now watch Netflix. We do have Satellite TV but it was all in German - 1000 channels but only CNN and MSNBC in English!
