Barranco de Guayadeque

The Vomistop seems to be working so we were off on another road trip to Barranco de Guayadeque. This was mostly a freeway drive with a little bit of twisty mountain road. It was nice and sunny when we left our apartment and along the coast but as soon as we headed inland, the misty clouds dominated the skies and a light drizzle began. According to the forecast, it was supposed to clear by 1:00 pm but it didn't.  The valley we drove through was green and lush with vegetation as we headed up the barranco.

Unfortunately, the "Centro de Interpretation", aka the museum, was closed on Mondays so we were not able to get an interpretation of the history of the area but we continued on to the summit of the valley where there were a few restaurants and a settlement of "cave" homes.

We had a nice lunch in Restaurant Tagororo. A restaurant hollowed out of the cliff.

The rain had let up a bit to a heavy mist with occasional sunshine breaking through. We walked along a cliffside path past a number of hillside "cave" homes and apartments taking in what on a normal day would be a spectacular view of the valley.

It seems that everyone who lives in a cave house has several cats.

The combination of mist and sun treated us to a great rainbow for a few minutes.

As we were driving out of the valley we noticed this farm house cave high up on the bank of the valley.

Back home, the sun was out as usual.

Tonight, we had a really good Indian food dinner just steps away from the apartment.
