We noticed they and a surfing school and had fun watching the activity.
We moved on to another spot that had more surfers but the waves were not too big today. Nearby was a manmade swimming area filled with ocean water.
It was about 26C and sunny, great for people watching.
Some observations after a few days here:
- There seem to be a large number of people using mobility assistance devices; canes, crutches, wheelchairs, motorized scooters.
- A fair number of middle-aged people (male and female) with multiple tattoos
- Skin cancer doesn't seem to concern many. Nobody wears a hat, a lot of men stroll the boardwalk topless and most seem to use a suntan oil rather than a sunblock.
- Lung cancer also doesn't seem to be a concern. Lots of smokers.
- Ladies don't have to be thin to wear 1/2 of a bikini at the beach or on their balcony
We stopped for lunch at a British Pub on the beach. Two beers, one glass of wine, a cheeseburger, a chicken burger and french fries less than 10 euros ($15Cdn).
We returned to the apartment and got into our swimsuits and walked to the closest beach. The water was actually quite pleasant, I'm guessing about 25C. Read our books for a couple of hours and returned home for supper.
After dinner we went to a walk to the shopping area a block south where they have this really fun fountain that squirts water to music every night. Fun to watch.
